As summer winds down and kids head back to the classroom, many families are feeling the pinch. School supplies, clothes, activities, and everyday living expenses can quickly add up—especially in a time when uncertainty is the new normal. For some, the excitement of a new school year is clouded by the stress of simply making ends meet.
At HTX Basket Brigade, we believe no family should have to choose between providing for their children’s education and putting a holiday meal on the table. That’s why, every year, we rally our community to deliver baskets filled with everything needed for a full Thanksgiving dinner—no strings attached, no sign-up lines, no forms to fill out. Just kindness, dignity, and a moment of relief during the holiday season.
This year, as kids settle into their new classrooms, we’re already working behind the scenes to prepare for our biggest event of the year. On the Saturday before Thanksgiving, hundreds of volunteers will come together to assemble and deliver meals directly to families in need across Houston. It’s more than just food—it’s hope, compassion, and a reminder that our community cares.
The start of the school year is a reminder that many families are doing their best to provide stability in unstable times. By supporting the Basket Brigade, you’re helping ensure that these same families can look forward to a warm, festive holiday meal without the financial burden.
We’ll be sharing volunteer opportunities, donation drives, and event details over the coming weeks—and we’d love for you to be part of the movement.
