Here’s what returning volunteers and supporters can expect this Thanksgiving.* Every year, Houston neighbors come together to help other Houston neighbors enjoy Thanksgiving. That spirit remains at the heart of HTX Basket Brigade—and this year brings a few changes we’re excited to share. Whether you’ve supported us for years or are joining for the first time, here’s what’s new for 2026. ## We’re now our own 501(c)(3) charity HTX Basket Brigade is officially a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization! Our story began in 2015 with a simple goal: help Houston families enjoy Thanksgiving. Becoming our own recognized charity marks a new chapter in that work, giving supporters a direct way to contribute to our mission. We’re grateful to everyone who has helped us reach this point—from volunteers packing baskets to donors and community partners making the meals possible. ## Donations now go directly through Zeffy—with a tax receipt Returning supporters may remember donating through Second Servings of Houston’s platform. This year, you can **give directly to HTX Basket Brigade through Zeffy**. **Every donation made through our Zeffy donation page receives a tax receipt.** Donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. A gift of **$19.79 helps provide a Thanksgiving meal for one family**. Whether you sponsor one meal or several, your generosity helps fill the baskets our volunteers will prepare. **[Donate through Zeffy →](https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/htx-basket-brigade)** ## This year, we’re gathering on a Wednesday evening Mark your calendar for: **Wednesday, November 18, 2026 6:30–8:30 PM CST Houston Texans YMCA** 5202 Griggs Road, Houston, TX 77021 We’re teaming up with the Houston Texans YMCA and University of Houston Track & Field Team to help provide Thanksgiving meals for **300 Houston families**. Bring your friends, family, or coworkers for a couple of hours of organizing supplies, packing baskets, and giving back together. Returning volunteers and first-time participants are all welcome. Wednesday’s volunteer event focuses on assembling the Thanksgiving baskets. Once packed, **the baskets will remain at the YMCA for coordinated distribution through our community partners**. Volunteers attending the build won’t need to take on a separate delivery route. Please register ahead of time so we can plan for everyone attending and keep you informed. **[Sign up to volunteer →](https://www.htxbasketbrigade.com/volunteer/)** ## The heart of Basket Brigade stays the same The schedule and donation process have changed, but the reason we come together is familiar: helping families in our community share a Thanksgiving meal. You can be part of this year’s effort by giving your time, sponsoring a meal, or sharing the opportunity with someone who would love to help. Thank you for helping HTX Basket Brigade grow—and for continuing to show up for Houston. **[Volunteer at the build](https://www.htxbasketbrigade.com/volunteer/) · [Help feed a family](https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/htx-basket-brigade)** **P.S.** Prefer to donate by check or another method?
